Fourth Year on Sunday Times '100 Best Companies to Work For List'

March, 2008

Davis Langdon is celebrating its inclusion - for the fourth year running - on the Sunday Times ‘100 Best Companies to Work For list’.

The firm, which jumped 52 places from 81st to 29th on the list last year, moved up another 10 places to achieve 19th position on the list – the only project and cost consultancy firm to be placed in the top 50.

Judges at the awards ceremony – which took place on Thursday February 28th at Battersea Power Station in London – commented:

“A happy and motivated workforce has provided a firm base for property consultancy Davis Langdon.  Employee satisfaction is mirrored in a 78% positive score for staff finding their work stimulating and an 81% result for feeling they can make a valuable contribution to the success of the firm.”

In addition, they commented:

“Partners are easily accessible and team-building events, meetings and conferences are regular features of working life.”

Companies are judged by their harshest critics, their own staff, through a randomly distributed survey – which asks employees to rate areas such as their feelings about the senior leadership of their company, work/life balance and wellbeing, pay and benefits, personal development, their colleagues and corporate social responsibility.

The survey highlighted that 70% Davis Langdon employees feel their managers are excellent role models and 78% have confidence in their leadership skills.  Employees also gave the firm an 82% positive score for benefiting their personal growth, a ranking bettered by just 11 other companies on the list.  The consultancy was also given an 81% positive score for being run on sound moral principles with 85% of employees saying they felt pride in working for Davis Langdon.
Senior Partner Rob Smith comments “To be acknowledged, once again, as one of the ‘100 Best Companies to Work For’ and, indeed, to move even further up the list, is a truly fantastic achievement.  It is testament to the great people we have working for us, without whom our continuing success wouldn’t be possible and our thanks go to all who took the time to complete the questionnaire.”
The firm, which boasts an award winning Graduate Development Programme, has introduced a number of benefits to its staff over the last year including 2 additional days leave for volunteer work in the community and early finish times on Fridays.

The firm is also celebrating being named one of the best 50 companies to work for in Ireland at an awards dinner on Wednesday 27 February 2008, the only one amongst its peers to make the list. This assessment is carried out by Great Place to Work Institute Ireland and Independent Newspapers.  This was the first year that Davis Langdon’s Irish business has entered the award.
