At the prestigious BCO Awards, which were held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, gathered the cream of UK corporate real estate together to celebrate the very best in excellent office space at the BCO Awards and this year’s winners included seven Davis Langdon projects.
The Best of the Best award went to the Lawn Tennis Association National Tennis Centre in Roehampton for which the firm provided specification consulting services for the architect, Hopkins Architects. The Innovation award was won by 180 Great Portland Street, London, for which Davis Langdon provided cost management services.
Other winners included the Blue Fin Building in London which was awarded the national and regional award for best corporate workplace. Davis Langdon acted as Employer’s Agent and provided both project and cost management as well as specification consulting for the project, which opened last year. Colmore Plaza in Birmingham was also a regional winner, taking home the best commercial workplace award for the Midlands and East Anglia region – an accolade with particular significance given that the firm not only provided cost and project management services on the project, but are also a major tenant of the building.
Davis Langdon provided cost management and specification services on Unilever House which won the award for the best Refurbished/Recycled Workplace in London; and in Scotland the Minroy & Wood HQ Building in East Lothian, which won best Small Project, was project managed by Davis Langdon. The best Commercial Workplace was awarded to No 1 Quartermile Square, Glasgow (specifications services were provided by Davis Langdon).

The Building Construction Industry Awards 2008 were held in London on Wednesday 8 October 2008. Davis Langdon projects that were shortlisted for awards included the Young Vic Theatre, Royal Festival Hall refurbishment, National Theatre Studio refurbishment and Newlyn Art Gallery extension, the new Manchester Civic Justice Centre and Kensington Oval Cricket Ground in Barbados.
The Young Vic Theatre won the Building Award for projects valued between £3m and £50m. The Judges' said that "Theatrical in every way, the Young Vic has successfully met the very special demands and aspirations of the client and the needs of the performers".
The Grade 1 Royal Festival Hall, which was the first significant public building constructed after the Second World War, won the Conservation Award. The £80m refurbishment ensured that the exteriors remained intact while the interiors were totally refurbished to provide improved acoustics and 21st century facilities.
The Manchester Civic Centre won the Judges' Special Award for the building which the judges considered to be particularly inspirational in one or more aspects. The Kensington Oval Cricket Ground received a High Commendation in the International Award category.
Retail Interiors Awards were held at London’s Hilton Hotel on Park Lane on 1 October. The partnership delivered a suite of integrated services to eight of the shortlisted retail projects across a wide range of categories and locations.
The firm proved its retail expertise with winning projects in six categories including Fortnum & Mason of Piccadilly, London who won both the “Best VM Solution” and “Shopping Excellence Award” categories; the new Debenhams in Liverpool which won the award for “Department Store Interior of the Year”’; John Lewis Food Hall from Waitrose winner of the “Food and Supermarket Design of the Year” and the “Best UK Retailer” awards; and Marks & Spencer in Bournemouth which won the “Green Store of the Year” category.
In addition, Davis Langdon projects were finalists in two categories, including Fortnum & Mason who were a finalist for the “Best In-Store Catering and Hospitality” award and The Wonder Room at Selfridges in London who came Runner Up in the “Shopfitting Excellence Award”.
